Activist Tamika Mallory declared a State of Emergency in her viral speech at a Minneapolis Press conference following the May 25, 2020 murder of George Floyd. The speech was called “the speech of a generation” by ABC News.

“Tamika D. Mallory speaks a truth that often stings but needs to be told that as Black people in America, any one of us at any moment can be a victim of the injustice system. “State of Emergency” gives us the words and tools to fight for the justice our families deserve and vows to create a world where no one has to lose their beloved child at the hands of the state. Justice for my daughter, Breonna Taylor. My heart is broken, but my fight is strong.” —Tamika Palmer, mother of Breonna Taylor

“Tamika is one of those people who's ALWAYS on the frontlines fighting for us—not for self-serving reasons, but because she cares about Black People. STATE OF EMERGENCY is going to immortalize her words and give black people a study guide that will help us navigate our way to true freedom.” —Charlamagne Tha God

“I not only consider Tamika D. Mallory is a friend but she has also been a powerful voice in constantly reminding us that we all have a stake in the fight for a just, fair, and equitable America. I have seen her sacrifices and struggles up close and in a personal way, which makes the opportunity to have her voice and perspective in black- and -white, on paper, a gift.” — Jada Pinkett Smith
